Frontier Airlines is a major ultra-low-cost airline in the US, having its headquarters in Denver, Colorado. It was created by Frederick W. “Rick” Brown (a United Airlines pilot), his wife Janice Brown, and Bob Schulman. The airline operates key bases in Denver, Orlando, and multiple other cities across the mainland US and Puerto Rico. The airlines is ranked fifth in the 2025 edition of Skytrax’s annual “Best Low-Cost Airlines in North America” ranking. Frontier Airlines flights are often direct and short-haul, making them popular among Americans for weekend trips and quick domestic travel!

Several notable incidents like below tell us how these safety systems function in real time. In 2018, flight 260 experienced damage to its engine fan cowlings during takeoff, likely caused by foreign debris on runway. Although the aircraft’s engine performance was not compromised, the crew made the precautionary decision to return for an emergency landing. This ensured passenger safety with no reported injuries.

More recently, in October 2024, Frontier Airlines flight 1326 encountered a fire during landing in Las Vegas. The pilots promptly declared an emergency, executing a safe landing, allowing all 197 passengers to exit the aircraft without injury. Similarly, in April 2025, Frontier Airlines Flight 3506 sustained landing gear damage during a hard landing attempt in San Juan. The flight crew initiated a go-around, managed an engine flame event during climb-out, and successfully returned. Again everyone who was onboard alongside the 228 passengers disembarked safely without any injuries!

Is Frontier a Good Airline?

Frontier Airlines reviews are mixed. People often praise the low fares but note limited legroom, minimal onboard services and extra fees for seat selection and bags. But if we think realistically, this is an ultra-low-cost airline designed to facilitate budget-concious travelers. They make flights cheap by cutting off the costs dedicated for comfort and additional services.

So if anyone seeks comfort and premium services while traveling, it is not the best idea to fly Frontier Airlines. After all, their flights run in business for the travelers who pack light and do not mind fewer amenities!
